Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora sits on Motu Tehotu, one of the reef islets on the east side of the lagoon, 15 minutes by boat from the airport.1 It has 115 units, 108 of them overwater bungalow suites and seven of them beachfront villas, and every stay includes airport transfers and breakfast.2 This page goes through what each room type gets you, what it costs once the fees are added, and where the resort falls short. Everything here comes from the resort's own pages and booking engine, checked on 19 October 2026.

02 · Where it is

On the outer reef,
facing the mountain.

Motu Tehotu is one of the long reef islets that close the east side of Bora Bora's lagoon. The resort describes its setting as overlooking both Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia2, which is the point of being on this side: the view runs west across the lagoon to the main island. The cost is distance. Vaitape, the restaurants of Matira and everything else on the main island are across the water, and nothing beyond the resort is walkable.

Arrival is simple. Air Tahiti flies from Tahiti in about 50 minutes and lands on Motu Mute, the airport motu in the north of the lagoon.10 The resort's staff meet the plane, take the luggage and run guests across in about 15 minutes on its own yachts.1 Those shared boat transfers are paid for through the compulsory resort fee rather than as a separate charge.8 The resort warns that inter-island flights don't run late at night or very early in the morning, so a late international arrival in Papeete can mean a night on Tahiti first; guests book their own Air Tahiti or Air Moana flights.1

For the village, the resort arranges a 25-minute boat to Vaitape harbour twice a day, Monday to Saturday, on a fixed schedule; it lists no Sunday service and publishes no fare.1 In practice that timetable decides whether you eat off the motu. Dinner in Vaitape needs a return boat that fits, or a private one.

03 · Rooms and villas

Sixteen room types,
three families.

One-bedroom overwater bungalow suites

Four views on the same 100 m² plan: beach, lagoon, mountain, and premier mountain (front-on to Otemanu). King or two queens plus a sofa bed; up to three adults, or two adults and two children aged 12 and under. No pool.2 On the booking engine, the cheapest view is not always the one you'd expect: for 15 February 2027 the mountain view was the lowest price and the lagoon view the highest, 216,876 to 266,168 XPF.8

One-bedroom suites with plunge pool

Beach-, lagoon- and mountain-view versions at 104 m². Each has a freshwater, temperature-controlled infinity plunge pool of 3.4 × 2.4 m on a teak deck of roughly 23–37 m², and a lower terrace with an outdoor shower and a ladder into the lagoon.42 From 348,588 XPF (approximately US$3,420) for one night on 14 July 2027.9

Otemanu overwater suite with plunge pool

The front-row one-bedroom: 147 m², pool, the full mountain view, and the only category offered with the resort's sleep-on-the-deck set-up.24 621,820 XPF (approximately US$6,100) for 14 July 2027 and 738,024 XPF (approximately US$7,240) for 15 February 2027, one night each.89

Two-bedroom overwater suites

Herenui and Poerava, both 207 m² with a plunge pool, for up to six adults or two adults and four children. Poerava has two king beds and the unobstructed lagoon-and-Otemanu outlook; Herenui is the one the resort pitches at families.42 Poerava started at 1,023,874 XPF a night for 15 February 2027.8

Beachfront villa estates

Seven villas on the beach, from one to five bedrooms and 253 m² to 800 m² indoors, on plots of a third of an acre to over a full acre (0.1–0.4 ha). They come with a villa host team, private airport transfers, breakfast and a private beach set-up; the larger estates list private pools and an outdoor kitchen. The four- and five-bedroom estates are booked by phone.25 The one-bedroom estate started at 1,036,294 XPF (approximately US$10,160) for 15 February 2027.8

04 · The water

What's under
the deck.

Every overwater suite has a private deck over the lagoon; the plunge-pool categories add a lower terrace with a ladder straight into the water.4 The resort's Lagoon Sanctuary, a stretch of its own lagoon looked after by its marine biologists, is described as home to more than 100 species and open for snorkeling at any time.11 Snorkel gear, kayaks and paddleboards cost nothing extra, and the resort fee covers non-motorised water sports.128

Two caveats. The resort's marine biology page said its programme would be 'temporarily unavailable after September 24' while the Lagoon Sanctuary is enhanced, with no end date given; the free group snorkels it lists for Mondays and Saturdays depend on it.13 And the water under any one bungalow depends on where on the pontoon it sits. Depth, coral and current change along a line of bungalows, so ask for the position of the specific unit, not just its view category.

The beach is the resort's own white-sand strip inside the motu, with the infinity pool behind it. From 4 January to 24 February 2027, the pool and main beach close for works; see the downsides below.8 Beyond the resort, the guided outings run from shark-and-ray snorkel safaris by outrigger canoe to helmet dives and a two-seat underwater scooter.11

05 · Eating and drinking

Five restaurants,
one boat to the rest.

Arii Moana

Mediterranean classics in a waterside room, with a wine list of boutique and Mediterranean labels. The resort's smart-casual dinner option.6

Fare Hoa Beach Bar & Restaurant

Open-air and on the sand: grills, seafood, steak and Polynesian dishes, with a rum list. Closed from 4 January to 24 February 2027 during the pool works.68

Vaimiti

Overwater, with an Asian menu and the sunset cocktail slot.6

Tere Nui

Breakfast only, open-air, facing Otemanu; breakfast here is included in every rate. It too closes during the early-2027 works.28

Oro'a

A set menu with Polynesian dancing and a fire performance: the resort's culture night.6

In-bungalow dining

Room service runs 24 hours, including breakfast delivered by canoe. On the all-meals package, dinner served in the room carries a delivery fee.64 Children under 5 eat free; kids' menus cover ages 6 to 12.7

06 · Spa, pools, children

Spa, pools
and the kids' club.

Te Mahana Spa sits on the lagoon edge, reached by raised walkways: seven treatment rooms, including two open-air pavilions and an overwater couples' suite with glass panels under the beds, plus a sauna, a steam room and two outdoor whirlpools. Facilities open 09:00–18:00 and treatments run 10:00–18:00.14 Around it are an outdoor vitality pool, a fitness centre with lagoon-side yoga, two artificial-grass tennis courts and an on-site dive centre run by Diveasy.1412 There is a resort doctor on site.12

The main pool is an infinity pool with thatched cabanas, which the resort fee covers.128 We found no permanent adults-only pool on the resort's pages. The only one mentioned is temporary: the Villa Beach Club that stands in for the main pool area during the 2027 works has two pool areas, one of them adults-only.8

Kids For All Seasons runs from the Tamarii Club, for ages 5 to 12: a playroom, video games, an outdoor playground and a shallow splash pad, with a different activity each day. The same family page also says the club operates at weekends and in holidays, so confirm the days for your dates.7 Introductory dives start at age 8, in high season only.7 Children aged 17 and under sharing their parents' room stay at no extra charge; a third adult pays a nightly supplement.2

08 · When to book

Season, rate
and the rain.

The February-to-July gap on the booking engine, about 60,000 XPF a night for the cheapest suite, tracks the weather. At the airport motu, Météo-France's normals put February rainfall at 212 mm and July at 62 mm.1689 February 2027 also falls inside the pool works, which helps explain the softer rate.

The resort publishes offers rather than a price list: an advance-purchase bed-and-breakfast rate of up to 25% off, a spending-credit offer, and extended stays with complimentary nights, airport transport and meals.5 Holiday weeks carry their own programmes for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.5 The resort's on-island reservations team can also book the Air Tahiti connection timing with you, which matters if your international flight lands late.1

There are no points to earn or spend. If you hold Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors points, the St. Regis and the Conrad are where they work on Bora Bora.

St. Regis: Family programme and babysitting; no club described17

Four Seasons: None
St. Regis: Marriott Bonvoy17

Verdict. Similar money, different temperament. The Four Seasons is the more complete family resort, with transfers folded into its fee; the St. Regis has larger villas, an adults-only pool and the Lagoonarium, and earns Bonvoy points. The Conrad Bora Bora Nui, on the south-west side, priced its cheapest overwater pool villa at 188,228 XPF before tax for the same February 2027 night.19 Our ranking, with its criteria, is on the best Bora Bora resorts.

10 · Who it suits

Who it suits,
who it doesn't.

It suits couples who want the classic Otemanu view from a large overwater suite and don't plan to leave the motu much, and it suits families better than its neighbours: a kids' club with set ages, two-bedroom overwater suites, villa estates with gardens, and no charge for under-18s sharing their parents' room.72 Travellers without hotel points lose nothing by choosing it.

It doesn't suit anyone watching the total. The cheapest suite in February 2027 cost about one and a half times the island's average international-hotel rate for July–September 2025, before tax.815 It doesn't suit independent travellers who want Vaitape or Matira most evenings, given a twice-daily boat with no Sunday service listed.1 It doesn't suit points collectors. And between 4 January and 24 February 2027 it doesn't suit anyone who wants the main pool, the main beach or the beach restaurant.8

For a cheaper night on the same lagoon, the island's main-island hotels and pensions cost a fraction of this; see where to stay on Bora Bora and Bora Bora's overwater bungalows compared.

11 · The downsides

What the brochure
leaves out.

  1. 01

Fees on top of the rate

A 10% resort fee and a 5% service charge are compulsory on every booking, and taxes come on top at checkout. The booking engine's prices include the fees but not the tax.8

  2. 02

    The 2027 pool works

From 4 January to 24 February 2027 the infinity pool, the main beach, Fare Hoa and Tere Nui close and Kids For All Seasons moves. Guests get the Villa Beach Club, with two pool areas (one adults-only), and a resort credit of EUR 100 per room per night.8

  3. 03

    The marine programme is paused

Guided activities in the Lagoon Sanctuary were suspended after 24 September for enhancements, with no reopening date published.13

  4. 04

A pool or the view costs a lot more

On 14 July 2027 the cheapest plunge-pool suite cost 1.25 times the cheapest standard suite, and the Otemanu suite 2.2 times.9

  5. 05

Off the motu runs to a timetable

The Vaitape boat runs twice a day, Monday to Saturday, and takes 25 minutes each way.1

  6. 06

Mixed signals on the kids' club

One part of the family page describes daily activities, another says weekends and holidays. Ask before relying on it.7

12 · Questions

Questions.

  1. 01

Is the Four Seasons Bora Bora all-inclusive?

No. Every rate includes breakfast at Tere Nui and shared airport boat transfers, the latter through the resort fee. Lunch and dinner are extra unless you book the Inclusive Plunge Pool Escape, which adds lunch and a three-course dinner (drinks extra) in the plunge-pool suites.248

  2. 02

How much is an overwater bungalow at the Four Seasons Bora Bora?

On 19 October 2026 the resort's booking engine priced the cheapest overwater suite at 216,876 XPF (approximately US$2,130) for 15 February 2027 and 278,027 XPF (approximately US$2,730) for 14 July 2027, for two adults, including the resort fee and service charge but before tax.89

  3. 03

Which rooms have a private pool?

The six specialty overwater categories (one-bedroom beach, lagoon, mountain and Otemanu views, and the two-bedroom Herenui and Poerava) have freshwater plunge pools, and the larger beachfront villa estates list private pools. The four standard overwater suite types do not.42

  4. 04

How long is the transfer from the airport?

About 15 minutes on the resort's boat from Bora Bora airport, which is itself on a motu. The shared transfer is covered by the 10% resort fee.18

  5. 05

    Is there a kids' club?

Yes: Kids For All Seasons at the Tamarii Club, for ages 5 to 12. Check which days it runs for your dates, and note that it relocates during the January–February 2027 works.78

  6. 06

Can I use hotel points here?

No. Four Seasons has no points programme. On Bora Bora, Marriott Bonvoy points work at the St. Regis and Hilton Honors points at the Conrad.
