Why the lagoon is blue

Bora Bora · Resort profile

Conrad
Bora Bora Nui.

The resort on Motu To'opua, in the south-west of the lagoon, back since May 2026 after a renovation Hilton has not itemised. Pool villas, a kids' club, Hilton Honors, and some works still going on.

Stay · Bora Bora · Conrad Bora Bora Nui

Conrad Bora Bora Nui sits on the south-west end of Motu To'opua, a small islet between the main island and the reef, ten minutes by boat from the main island and 25 from the airport.1 It reopened on 1 May 2026 after a renovation.2 Hilton has not published a list of what changed, so this page sticks to what its own pages and booking engine show now, in October 2026: the villa types and their pools, the restaurants that are open and the one that isn't, the cost of the boats, 2027 rates and how Hilton Honors works here. Reviews and photos dated before May 2026 describe the resort before the work.

02 · What the renovation changed

What we can see,
and what we can't.

The resort closed for renovation and reopened on 1 May 2026, a date the resort announced on its own social channels; the trade press that reported it noted that a full schedule of upgrades had not been published.2 Hilton's pages still don't itemise the work. A notice on every page of the resort's site in October 2026 says 'construction and enhancement works are currently taking place in select areas of the resort'.10

What the site does show is the result. The room list now runs to 15 categories, including a King Sunset View Overwater Pool Villa, a King Endless Lagoon View Villa with Pool and two Overwater Grand Suites with Pool, one of them facing Otemanu.4 Hilton's headline claim is 'private pools in every villa'.4 The booking engine doesn't quite agree: it still sells a King Overwater Villa, a King Deluxe Overwater Villa and a King Tropical Beach View Villa without a pool listed, next to their pool versions.5 If a pool is the point, book a category with 'pool' in its name.

Two other changes matter on the ground. Iriatai, the French restaurant the resort calls its signature, is closed; its menu is served at dinner in Tamure Beach Grill instead.6 And the spa now works with the Paris skincare house Codage.11 Anything else you read about the renovation (bigger bungalows, new orientations) is not on Hilton's pages, so we haven't repeated it.

03 · Where it is

The south-west,
the sunset side.

Motu To'opua lies inside the reef in the south-west of the lagoon, between the main island and the reef, and the resort occupies its south-western end.1 That makes it the sunset-side counterpart to the eastern motu, where the Four Seasons and the St. Regis face Otemanu: here the main island is a short hop away, and the sunset-view villas look the other way. Hilton's room list includes an Otemanu View Pool Overwater Villa and an Otemanu View Grand Suite, so the mountain is in sight from part of the resort.4

Air Tahiti's flight from Tahiti takes about 50 minutes and lands on Motu Mute in the north of the lagoon.12 From there the resort's boat takes 25 minutes, the longest of the three big resort transfers we checked, and costs 18,000 XPF return per person, 9,000 XPF for children aged 7 to 12. Hilton asks guests to send their flight number so someone meets them at the airport.1 There is also the only floating helipad in French Polynesia, by Hilton's account, for private helicopter arrivals and tours.13

The upside of the location is the main island. The resort is ten minutes from it by boat, and runs a service to Vaitape seven days a week on a fixed schedule; Hilton says fees may apply but doesn't publish them.1 Five minutes away by boat is Motu Tapu, the islet once used as Queen Pomare IV's private beach, which the resort says is reserved for its guests for picnics, proposals and private dinners.14

04 · Villas and suites

Fifteen categories,
three settings.

King Lagoon View Suite

The entry category, a suite rather than a villa, sleeping three. The rooms page priced it from 190,523 XPF (approximately US$1,870) for the night of 19 October 2026, including the 5% service charge and before tax.4

Overwater villas

King Overwater Villa, King Deluxe Overwater Villa, King Overwater Pool Villa, King Sunset View Overwater Pool Villa and King Otemanu View Pool Overwater Villa, each sleeping three.4 The plain Overwater Pool Villa started at 188,228 XPF for 15 February 2027 and 283,889 XPF for 14 July 2027; the Otemanu view version at 273,016 XPF in February.59

Overwater Grand Suites with Pool

Two versions, one facing Otemanu, each sleeping three. Both were sold out on the February 2027 search, so we have no price for them.45

Royal Pool Overwater Villa

Sleeps four, with butler service listed on the booking engine. From 565,127 XPF (approximately US$5,540) for 15 February 2027.5

3 Bedroom Presidential Overwater Villa

The resort's largest overwater unit, sleeping six; sold out on the February 2027 search.45

Beach and hillside villas

King Beach Pool Villa, King Tropical Beach View Villa (with or without pool), King Endless Lagoon View Villa with Pool and a 2 Bedroom Hillside Villa with Pool for four.4 The Tropical Beach View Villa was the cheapest unit on both 2027 searches: 159,401 XPF in February, 255,260 XPF in July.59

05 · The water and the beach

Four beaches
and Motu Tapu.

Hilton claims four beaches for the resort and, among Bora Bora's luxury resorts, its largest white-sand beach; Tahiti Tourisme's listing speaks of the longest private stretch of white sand.133 That makes the Conrad the easiest of the motu resorts for days on the sand rather than on a deck. Kayaks and snorkeling are among the family activities the resort lists.7

Hilton's pages say little about what's under the overwater villas, and nothing about a protected snorkeling area of the kind the St. Regis (the Lagoonarium) and the Four Seasons (the Lagoon Sanctuary) describe. Ask about depth and coral under the specific villa before booking, and about the position on the pontoon: as elsewhere, the water changes along the line.

Motu Tapu, five minutes away by boat, is the resort's set-piece: Hilton calls it the most photographed islet in the South Pacific and says it is available exclusively to its guests, for picnics, private events and dinners.14 The site doesn't publish prices for these, so ask.

06 · Eating and drinking

Four open,
one closed.

Tamure Beach Grill

Mediterranean and Polynesian dishes cooked in an open-air kitchen. It now serves breakfast and, at dinner, the Iriatai menu, except on Mondays and Fridays, when the resort holds its Polynesian show with a traditional buffet.6

Banyan

Seafood and modern Chinese food beside the resort's old banyan tree.6

Upa Upa Lounge Bar

The lounge bar; Hilton's description is copied from the grill's, so check what it serves.6

Tarava Pool Bar

The swim-up bar at the infinity pool, open for drinks 10:30–21:00, and 10:30–18:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.613

Iriatai (closed)

The French restaurant Hilton calls its signature is closed for now, with no reopening date given.6

Ahima'a and kids' menus

The resort says it is the only one on Bora Bora to serve ahima'a, meat, fish and vegetables cooked for up to 12 hours in an underground oven. Kids' menus are available in every restaurant.6

07 · Spa, pool, children

A spa on the hill,
a club for kids.

Hina Spa sits on top of the motu's hill, looking over the lagoon: three double treatment villas with whirlpools, four single rooms, an outdoor double treatment area and a treatment cabin, Hina Views, that looks out to both Otemanu and Maupiti. Treatments run 10:00–19:00, with Codage Paris skincare.11

The main pool is an oversized infinity pool over the lagoon with private cabanas and the swim-up Tarava bar. There is a 24-hour fitness centre, daily classes and a running track.13 We found no adults-only pool or area on the resort's pages.

The Tamari'i Kids Club is free for children aged 5 to 12 and open every day, 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–16:00; under-5s are welcome with a parent or guardian. Kids' menus cover all the restaurants, and Hilton lists cribs, a playground and childcare among the amenities.764 For an overwater resort, that is a solid family set-up, and the beach makes it easier still.

09 · Hilton Honors

Points here,
and when they're worth it.

The Conrad is Bora Bora's Hilton Honors resort. Its offers page lists double points on eligible stays, a member advance-purchase discount and a resort credit offer.8 Award prices are dynamic and change by date, so look them up signed in to your Hilton Honors account and compare with the cash rate for the same nights before redeeming; on a resort this expensive, a points stay can be good value or poor value depending on the date.

For Marriott Bonvoy, the St. Regis is the equivalent; the Four Seasons has no programme. On cash alone, the Conrad's cheapest overwater pool villa cost less than the cheapest overwater room, pool or not, at either of them on the February 2027 night we checked. The Four Seasons figure includes breakfast and the airport boat; the St. Regis figure, like the Conrad's, excludes tax.51617

Verdict. The Conrad is the family and beach choice of the big resorts, on the cheaper side for a pool villa, with Hilton Honors. The St. Regis wins on room size, the Lagoonarium and an adults-only pool; the Four Seasons on the Otemanu outlook and transfers included. All three are ranked, with the criteria, on the best Bora Bora resorts.

11 · Who it suits

Who it suits,
who it doesn't.

It suits families: a free daily kids' club with fixed hours, kids' menus everywhere, beaches, and half-price transfers for children aged 7 to 12.71 It suits couples who want a private pool over the water for less: 188,228 XPF for the Conrad's overwater pool villa against 391,532 XPF for the Four Seasons' cheapest plunge-pool suite on the same February 2027 night. And it suits Hilton Honors members.516

It doesn't suit anyone who wants the full renovated resort with every restaurant open: Iriatai is closed and works continue in select areas.610 It doesn't suit travellers counting on easy snorkeling straight from the resort, since no protected area is described. And the per-person transfer adds up: four adults pay 72,000 XPF (approximately US$705) in return boat fares before the first night.1

12 · The downsides

What the brochure
leaves out.

  1. 01

    Works still under way

In October 2026, five months after reopening, Hilton's site said construction and enhancement works were taking place in select areas of the resort.10

  2. 02

    The signature restaurant is shut

Iriatai is closed; its menu moves to Tamure Beach Grill at dinner, except on show nights.6

  3. 03

    Pool or no pool

'Private pools in every villa' is the headline, but three categories are sold without a pool in the name. Read the room title before paying.45

  4. 04

The airport boat is per person

18,000 XPF each, return, and 25 minutes each way: the longest and, for groups, the dearest of the big resorts' transfers we checked.11816

  5. 05

    Taxes on top

The booking engine's prices include the 5% service charge but not taxes and government charges.5

  6. 06

    Little published detail

No room sizes on the main room list, no Vaitape shuttle fares, no Motu Tapu prices, and no list of what the renovation changed.

13 · Questions

Questions.

  1. 01

Is the Conrad Bora Bora Nui open?

Yes. It reopened on 1 May 2026 after renovation and was taking bookings in October 2026, though Hilton's site still flagged works in select areas and the Iriatai restaurant was closed.2106

  2. 02

    What changed in the renovation?

Hilton hasn't published a list. Its pages now show 15 room categories, including sunset-view and Otemanu-view overwater pool villas and two overwater Grand Suites with pools, and a 'private pools in every villa' claim, although some categories are still sold without a pool.45

  3. 03

How much is an overwater villa at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui?

On 19 October 2026 the booking engine priced the King Overwater Pool Villa from 188,228 XPF (approximately US$1,845) for 15 February 2027 and 283,889 XPF (approximately US$2,785) for 14 July 2027, for two adults, including a 5% service charge but before tax.59

  4. 04

How do I get there from the airport?

By the resort's boat, about 25 minutes. It costs 18,000 XPF return per person and 9,000 XPF for children aged 7 to 12; send the resort your flight number in advance.1

  5. 05

    Is there a kids' club?

Yes: the Tamari'i Kids Club, free, for ages 5 to 12, open daily 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–16:00. Younger children can join with a parent.7

  6. 06

Can I use Hilton Honors points?

Yes. Award prices vary by date, so compare them with the cash rate, signed in, before redeeming.
