Air Tahiti passes,
renamed for 2026.

Eight multi-island passes and three extensions, new names and new fares for trips from 1 April 2026. Which islands each one covers, what it costs, the rules that catch people out, and when single tickets are cheaper.

Maupiti and its motu from the air

Plan · Air Tahiti · Passes

An Air Tahiti pass is one ticket for a loop of islands: a closed circuit, usually from Tahiti back to Tahiti, flown in one direction, one stop per island1. For trips starting on or after 1 April 2026 the airline sells eight of them — Maeva, Monoï, Maupiti, Tuamotu, Reva, Fenua, Marquesas and Austral — plus extensions to the Marquesas, the Australs and Rarotonga1. Guides written before 2026 use other names and other prices. Fares below are Air Tahiti's published low-season starting prices in euros, read on 19 October 2026 and converted at the fixed rate of 1,000 XPF to €8.382; US dollars are approximate, at about 102 XPF to the dollar.

01 · The short answer

Which pass
to buy.

Leeward Islands only (Huahine, Raiatea for Taha'a, Bora Bora, plus Moorea): the Maeva Pass from Tahiti, from about 49,700 XPF (€416.32, ≈ US$487) for two islands1.

Leewards with Maupiti: the Maupiti Pass, from about 65,900 XPF (€552.08, ≈ US$646), for two to five islands1.

Atolls only (Rangiroa, Tikehau, Fakarava): the Tuamotu Pass, from about 57,700 XPF (€483.28, ≈ US$565) for two or three atolls1.

Society Islands and atolls together: the Reva Pass from Tahiti, from about 60,800 XPF (€509.67, ≈ US$596) for two islands up to ≈ 98,100 XPF (€821.75, ≈ US$961) for six to eight1.

Starting on Moorea — say after taking the ferry over — the Monoï Pass (Leewards) or the Fenua Pass (Leewards and atolls) begins with a flight out of Moorea and ends on Tahiti1.

Marquesas or Australs: the Marquesas Pass (Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa, from about 98,000 XPF, €821.42, ≈ US$961) or the Austral Pass (Rurutu and Tubuai, from about 64,500 XPF, €540.69, ≈ US$633); or add either archipelago to another pass as an extension1.

How they work
Only with a pass, flown before or after it, with up to 24 hours on Tahiti in between; you can buy both the Marquesas and Austral extensions. A trip with an extension may last up to 40 days1.

04 · The rules

The terms that
catch people out.

  1. 01

    One loop, one direction

Passes are closed circuits, usually starting and finishing on Tahiti. You can't return to Tahiti in the middle, and each island can be a stopover only once1.

  2. 02

    Moorea first or last

If Moorea is on the pass, it must come at the beginning or the end of the itinerary, and Tahiti–Moorea flights must be direct1.

  3. 03

    Two islands at least

You needn't visit every island a pass allows, but at least two; on the Austral and Marquesas passes, both islands1.

  4. 04

    One archipelago at a time

On a pass covering the Society Islands and the Tuamotu, you visit all your islands in one archipelago before moving to the next; within an archipelago, any order the timetable allows1.

  5. 05

    Short stops count

A stop of under 24 hours with a change of flight number counts as a stopover — except at Rangiroa, on Bora Bora–Rangiroa–Tikehau or Fakarava flights, if the stop is under 2 hours1.

  6. 06

    28 days, every flight confirmed

The trip may last up to 28 days from the first flight (40 with an extension), and every flight must be confirmed when the ticket is issued — no open dates1.

  7. 07

    No changes, no refunds

Before issue, change the booking through whoever sold it. After payment and issue, a pass can't be changed or refunded1. It can't be combined with other Air Tahiti fares either1.

  8. 08

    Everyone can use one

Pass fares exist for adults, children and infants1.

05 · Is it worth it?

Pass or
single tickets.

Bora Bora and one more Leeward island
A Bora Bora round trip alone started at 40,246 XPF (≈ US$395) on 19 October 20263; the two-island Maeva Pass starts at about 49,700 XPF (≈ US$487)1. The second island costs roughly 9,400 XPF (≈ US$92) more. Our arithmetic from 'from' fares
Two atolls
Rangiroa and Fakarava round trips started at 37,718 and 45,760 XPF in October 2026, about 83,500 XPF (≈ US$818) together45; the Tuamotu Pass, for two or three atolls, starts at about 57,700 XPF (≈ US$565)1.
Leewards and atolls
Bora Bora plus Rangiroa as two round trips: about 78,000 XPF (≈ US$764)34. The Reva Pass for two islands: about 60,800 XPF (≈ US$596)1.
The Australs
A Rurutu round trip alone started at 74,860 XPF (≈ US$734) in October 20266; the Austral Pass, with Tubuai too, at about 64,500 XPF (≈ US$633)1.
The Marquesas
A Hiva Oa round trip started at 96,660 XPF (≈ US$948), Nuku Hiva at 87,560 XPF (≈ US$858)78; the Marquesas Pass, both islands, at about 98,000 XPF (≈ US$961)1.
When singles win
One island only, or a trip that must return to Tahiti in the middle, or dates you may need to change: single tickets, ideally a flexible fare, which can be changed free to an identical fare9.

06 · Reading the numbers

What 'from'
really means.

The pass prices above are the lowest Air Tahiti publishes, and every one is labelled 'in low season'1; the single fares are the lowest round trips its site showed when checked in October 202634. Neither is a quote for your dates. Price your actual itinerary in the booking engine before deciding — the comparison above shows the pattern, not the bill.

The pattern is consistent, though. In every comparison we could make, a trip to two islands other than Moorea came out cheaper on a pass; for the remote archipelagos the pass for two islands costs about the same as, or less than, a single return to one of them167.

Moorea is the exception. The ferry costs 1,100 to 2,350 XPF (≈ US$11–23) one way1011, against a lowest Air Tahiti round trip of 16,573 XPF (≈ US$162)12. Cross by boat and start a Monoï or Fenua Pass on Moorea instead1.

07 · The old names

Discovery, Bora Tuamotu
and other ghosts.

Before April 2026 Air Tahiti's passes had other names. Some survive in the airline's own terms and conditions, which still refer to a 'Discovery Pass' (two of Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea and Bora Bora), a 'Bora Tuamotu light' pass and a two-island Austral pass1. Older guides and forums use those names, and their prices date from earlier tariffs.

If an agent or a blog quotes a Discovery Pass or a Bora Tuamotu Pass, ask which 2026 pass it corresponds to and what it costs now. The names on the booking page for trips from 1 April 2026 are the eight listed above1.

08 · Routing

Building
the loop.

  1. 01

    Fix the scarce islands first

Maupiti and the remote archipelagos have few flights; build the pass around their days, then slot Bora Bora — more than ten flights a day — into the gaps1314.

  2. 02

    Use the Bora Bora shortcut

Air Tahiti flies direct from Bora Bora to Rangiroa, Tikehau and Fakarava, which is how a Reva or Fenua Pass moves from the Society Islands to the atolls without Tahiti in the middle31.

  3. 03

    Stay inside 28 days

Count from the first pass flight to the last; with an extension, 40 days1.

  4. 04

Leave the first and last day loose

The pass starts and ends on Tahiti, and Air Tahiti asks for 90 minutes after an international arrival and 120 before an international departure15. A night on Tahiti at each end is the safer plan.

  5. 05

    Price the baggage

Air Tahiti's prices come with different baggage allowance options13; check what the pass fare includes before you add dive gear or a second bag.

09 · Sample loops

Four loops
that work.

Maeva Pass, three islands

Tahiti → Huahine → Raiatea (boat to Taha'a) → Bora Bora → Tahiti. Short hops — Huahine is 40 minutes from Tahiti and 20 to 35 from its neighbours1617 — and Bora Bora last, where the flights home are most frequent13. From about 55,200 XPF (€462.75, ≈ US$541)1.

Monoï Pass after the ferry

Ferry to Moorea, then fly Moorea → Huahine → Bora Bora → Tahiti. Tahiti Tourisme lists Moorea–Huahine flights17; the pass, Moorea plus two islands, starts at about 49,100 XPF (€411.38, ≈ US$481)1, and the ferry at 1,100 XPF10.

Reva Pass, lagoon and atolls

Tahiti → Huahine → Bora Bora → Rangiroa → Fakarava → Tahiti: the Society Islands first, then the atolls, as the rules require1. Bora Bora–Rangiroa is a direct flight3 and Rangiroa–Fakarava ran daily in the summer 2026 timetable18. Four islands from about 85,000 XPF (€712.39, ≈ US$833)1.

Tuamotu Pass, three atolls

Tahiti → Tikehau → Rangiroa → Fakarava → Tahiti. Tikehau and Rangiroa are 20 minutes apart19, and Rangiroa–Fakarava is the daily link18; the Tikehau–Fakarava flight ran once a week in 2025, so it's the one to avoid relying on19. From about 57,700 XPF (€483.28, ≈ US$565)1.

10 · Questions

Questions.

  1. 01

What are the Air Tahiti passes called in 2026?

For trips from 1 April 2026: Maeva, Monoï, Maupiti, Tuamotu, Reva, Fenua, Marquesas and Austral, plus Marquesas, Austral and Rarotonga extensions1.

  2. 02

How much is the Air Tahiti pass to Bora Bora?

Bora Bora is on the Maeva Pass, from about 49,700 XPF (€416.32, ≈ US$487) for Tahiti plus two Leeward islands in low season1.

  3. 03

Is there a pass for Bora Bora and the Tuamotu?

Yes: the Reva Pass from Tahiti or the Fenua Pass from Moorea, both covering the Leewards, Maupiti and Rangiroa, Tikehau and Fakarava1.

  4. 04

Can I change dates after buying a pass?

Not once it is paid for and issued; changes and refunds are not permitted1.

  5. 05

    Does the pass include Moorea?

Maeva, Maupiti and Reva can include Moorea; Monoï and Fenua start from it1. If Moorea is on the route it must be first or last1.

  6. 06

How long can a pass trip last?

Up to 28 days from the first flight, or 40 days with an extension1.

  7. 07

What happened to the Discovery Pass?

It's a pre-2026 name. Air Tahiti's terms still mention it, but the passes sold for trips from 1 April 2026 have the new names1.

  8. 08

    Are there passes for children?

Yes; pass fares are offered to adults, children and infants1.

  9. 09

Can I start a pass on Moorea after taking the ferry?

Yes: the Monoï and Fenua passes, and the Moorea version of the Maupiti Pass, start with a flight out of Moorea and end on Tahiti1.

  10. 10

Can I go back to Tahiti in the middle of a pass?

No. Transits and stopovers on Tahiti aren't allowed during a pass, except for up to 24 hours between a pass and an extension1.

  11. 11

Is the Marquesas Pass worth it for one island?

It requires both Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa1, and at about 98,000 XPF (≈ US$961) it costs little more than the lowest Hiva Oa round trip we saw, 96,660 XPF17. For one island only, compare a single return.
